The Poet's Corner

Seasonal Gloom

The bird sings its jolly song
Way up high, we dance along
Its melody clear, within the air
Bright rays of daylight, laying bare
The sun grows dark, through the day
The bird’s great song, will not stay
It’s chirpy tune, turns real blue
Our hearts grow cold, right on cue
The weather worsens, into gloom
What was joyful, was too soon
The brink of chaos, rushes in
Deadening silence, felt within
In search of song, we venture far
Through the night, with no star
A heavy heart, we ache for change
A sign, a song, to be in range
The bird’s gone south, its tune away
When winter ends, it’ll be the day
