The Poet's Corner

Chasing the East

Chasing the east, we venture near
Ever so close, yet too far, we fear
As leaves in the wind, gusting its tears
It blows apart memories, of that which is dear
Where is the line, where the east we meet?
When will our paths, finally repeat?
How will the east, drop her firm guard?
Why will she ever, find it so hard?
Elusive she goes, riding the waves
Cool spray in the air, she wanders the rave
And up in the storm, she strikes out indeed
Like a viper scared nervous, not ready to feed
And into the morn, her brilliance glows red
Hot fret with warm anger, with little to be said
She soon lends her light, to the west as she cools
Blue skys line her eyes, as the tears form in pools
Her fury subsides, each boat rests a moored
A captain rides wary, of the nightmare endured
But into the fray, the adventure continues
Chasing the east, not sure what they got into
Chasing the East
